A digital twin is a dynamic, virtual replica of a physical building or piece of infrastructure. This allows teams to monitor progress, simulate “what-if” scenarios, predict performance and optimise decision-making across the entire asset lifecycle – from design and construction through to operation and maintenance. AI and advanced analytics further enhance this capability, improving safety, efficiency and sustainability on site.
Sustainability is also a growing priority, with green building principles and circular economy practices increasingly embedded into project delivery.
However, growth brings challenges. Skilled labour shortages remain acute, particularly across trades and project management, especially in regional areas. Addressing this requires ongoing investment in training, recruitment and upskilling to support a more digital, data-driven construction environment.
