Rosewood Centre – Barker College

Prime Constructions delivered the Rosewood Centre at Barker College, a $40–$50 million, three-storey indoor sports and learning complex officially opened in 2020. The project provides a modern, multi-purpose facility integrating education, sport, and community engagement and serves as a central hub for students, staff, and visitors.

The building features five multi-purpose sports courts, two gyms, 12 classrooms, a café, viewing platforms, and 150-car underground parking. The ground floor primarily accommodates parking and services, while level 2 hosts the main sports hall with street access from the east and northwest. Level 3 contains classrooms connected by a central walkway. A large, tensioned pearlescent fabric awning supported by a steel space frame defines the sports hall, with engineered rainwater diverters incorporated for sustainability. A rooftop solar array further enhances the building’s environmental performance.

Constructed on a steep, constrained site, Prime Constructions managed complex logistics, including staggered concrete pours and a staged handover to allow school operations to continue uninterrupted. The project’s design maximises natural light, acoustic performance, and integration with the surrounding landscape, creating a visually striking yet functional facility. The Rosewood Centre has been recognised with the 2023 International Architecture Award for its excellence in design and delivery.
